Lane, Isabel; - In Loving Memory of Alethia Isabel (Lane) McKaig who passed away peacefully, by God’s grace, aged 92, on Saturday evening, September 24th 2005, surrounded by her daughters, and caring friends including the loving stag and residents of the 6th floor at York Extendicare. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Shirley Johnston and grandchildren Kathryn of Ottawa, and Colin of Sudbury; daughter Marjorie Woltz and husband Douglas, grandsons Brian (wife Esme) of Victoria, British Columbia and David of London; and Marilyn McKaig of Sudbury. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) McKaig in 1973. She was born in Massey, the daughter of George and Martha (Goodell) Lane on January 24, 1913. She was predeceased by brother George Lane and sister Dorothy Andress. Alethia was a postmistress in Massey up until her marriage in 1943. She joined her husband living in Alliston and London while he was in the army. Upon William’s release from the Army, they moved to Sudbury where she was a stay-at-home mom to her daughters. Alethia lived a quiet life with simple pleasures. She had a wonderful spirit and sense of humour even up until her last days. She was involved in the Service and Cheer and Women’s Association at Knox Presbyterian Church. Alethia lived for the spring, summer and fall so she could be outdoors lovingly tending to her flowers and garden. She was a member of the Horticulture Society in years gone by. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street. Funeral Service in the Knox Presbyterian Church, 73 Larch Street, Wednesday, September 28th 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Staffa Cemetery, September 29th at 3:00 p.m. Donations to Heart & Stoke Fund or Knox Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
