Joyce Margaret GATECLIFF

TRULL, Joyce Margaret (nee Gatecliff), Peacefully at home on September 1, 2005 in her 84th year, surrounded by her family. Joyce was the beloved wife of Ray; devoted mother of Jim, Bob, Roger and Chris; mother-in-law to Sandy, Jennifer, Janet and Ca thy; grandmother to Justin (Avryl), Jarnie, Jenny, Chase, Darren, Brent, Merron, Graham, Diana and Dylan; great-grandmother to Braiden. Joyce grew up in St. Catharines with parents Dorothy and Bernard and brother Jack. She married Ft. Lt. Ray Trull, an RCAF pilot on June 30, 1945 and they lived in St. Thomas, Alymer, Port Colborne, London, Oakville and Burlington. She was proud to receive the medal for Outstanding Student at St. Catharines Collegiate. As a member of the Canadian Red Cross Transp ort Unit during WWII,she earned the rank of Lieutenant and was disappointed that her dream of serving overseas was denied, as teachers were in short supply. Joyce retired in 1984 after a rewarding career teaching the junior and intermediate grades. S he and Ray enjoyed many years of travelling, visiting five continents, bringing back slides for the infamous Thanksgiving Day slide shows at their cottage on Lake Kashagawigamog in Haliburton. Friends will be received at MAPLEGROVE UNITED CHURCH, 346 Maple Grove Drive, OAKVILLE, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. where the Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully received for the Ray and Joyce Trull Bursary Fund at McMaster U niversity, 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton, Ontario, L8S 4P5, c/o Development Office.
