BEATTIE, Jeann, Our dear Jeann died recently after a short illness. Award-winning author, writer, intellectual, mentor, friend to so many, Jeann was a journalist, reporter (BBC, MacLeans, The Standard), broadcaster and teacher over many productive y ears. Jeann ran writing workshops and more recently PLATO dialogues at the Central Library. She was beloved by her friends, librarians, scholars, her many pets and contacts here and abroad. A literary light has left St. Catharines. A Memorial service for Jeann will be held at The Multicultural Centre, 85 Church St., 2 p.m. Monday September 26th. - 9/24/2005 - ID7095556
