Emily Lucek (Milka Howard) Suddenly on Friday, October 7, 2005 at her home near Beausejour, Manitoba, Emily was called from us to move on to her new heavenly home at the age of 87 years to be with her daughter Ethel. Emily leaves to cherish her memory her husband Mike of 70 years, grandson Sean Michaels (Joanne) of Beausejour, brother Stanley Howard (Clara) of Garson, Man. Emily was predeceased by her daughter Ethel Urbanski in 1983, parents Henry (Eva) Howard, sister Julie and brothers Frank and John. She was born in Garson, Manitoba, Emily worked on the family farm until she met and married grandpa Mike Lucek and they then began their married life on their own farm near Hazelglen. Grandma enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and all types of farm animals. In 1974 they sold the farm to retire near Ste. Anne. They resided on a hobby farm until October of 2002 when they purchased a home near Beausejour to be closer to Sean and Joanne. Here she still enjoyed having fresh vegetables this summer from her garden with the help of her sister-in-law Eve Washnuk who tended to it with Emily’s husband Mike. Her dear and close friend Gladys Hastmann was always there to help her out with many other things through the years. A special thanks to her homecare worker Dorothy, also Dr. Van Rensburg and to the Beausejour ambulance attendants. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, Manitoba with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Services will terminate at the Chapel with Cremation to follow. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
