Mr. Kenneth Richard Johnson January 29, 1955 - October 09, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) JOHNSON, Kenneth Richard - 50, Halifax, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII, following a courageous and strong fight against cancer. Born in Halifax, Ken was a son of Gertrude (Ross) Johnson and the late Clifford Beverly Johnson (CAF Sgt. Ret'd). He is survived by his partner, Marie Claire Arseneau; sons, Christopher and Jordan, Dartmouth; daughter, Genevieve Arnold, Dartmouth; sisters, Beverley (Donald MacDonald), Dartmouth; Marylou Hansen, Ottawa; brothers, Clifford, Halifax; Douglas (Norma-Jean), Iqualuit; Michael (Christine), Sackville; David (Beth), Oshawa; Victor, Owen Sound; Ronald, Cloverdale, B.C.; Terrence, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. Ken attended Dalhousie University and completed the Supervisory Career Management course through Dalhousie's Henson College. He was a skilled facilitator who enjoyed part-time work with groups of adult learners. Throughout his work life Ken served as a Sales Associate with Sony Stores Ltd., Manager, Tip Top Tailors Ltd., he also worked in loans with Scotia Bank, and he was currently employed with NSLC where he accepted a training opportunity to become one of the small cadre of wine specialist (Sommelier) here in Nova Scotia. Ken had a great sense of humor; he loved to quote Howard Cosell whenever the outcome was not in his opponents favor. He was compassionate, kind and loyal to his family and friends. He loved all of his family very much. He enjoyed a round of golf and he organized the first family golf tournament which was held on August 28 of this year. Ken was a sportsman, he played both baseball and hockey well. He enjoyed music, family card parties and was an accomplished chess player. Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held Wednesday, October 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 13, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Family interment service will be held in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens at a later date.
