Mrs. LaVonne Gehmlich December 29, 1939 - October 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glenwood Funeral Home LaVonne Gehmlich of Sherwood Park, Alberta, beloved wife of Grant, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer, on Friday, October 7, 2005 in Edmonton at the age of 65. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children; Troy Gehmlich, Michelle (Chris) Dugan, Michael (Heidi) Gehmlich, and five grandchildren; Cassandra, Jessica, Hannah, Hailey and Adam. She is also survived by her siblings; Garth Leavitt, Pamela (Murray) Stovel, Bruce (Sue) Leavitt, Steven (Pat) Leavitt and Carma (Duane) Thomson. LaVonne was born and raised in Glenwood, Alberta. She attended university at BYU and U of A, then taught school for many years. She and Grant raised their children in Sherwood Park, where she was also co-director of Medallion Family Day Home Agency. She was very devoted to serving her family, her church, and her community. Her compassion and unconditional love for others touched the lives of all who knew her. Appreciation is extended to the faculty and staff of the University of Alberta Hospital, especially the heart transplant team. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2005. Viewing at 11:00 a.m., Funeral at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2090 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park with Bishop Doug Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Gardens. Those who desire may donate in memory of LaVonne to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta or to the Cross Cancer Institute
