SALAMIS, Père Nicholas C. Décédé le 15 octobre 2005, à Montréal, à son domicile, à l'âge de 108 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil sa fille Marika Asimakopulos, ses petites-filles Anna et Julia, son arrière-petite-fille Clara, sa belle-fille Corinne Salamis, ainsi que ses neveux Constantine B. Salamis et Père Evangelos Georgiades et sa nièce Marika Panagopoulos. Le Père Salamis est né à Leka, Samos, Grèce, le 13 août 1897. Il est devenu prêtre Grec Orthodoxe en 1938, travaillant d'abord à Toronto, et depuis 1945 il a servi la Communauté Grecque à Montréal. Durant sa longue carrière religieuse, il s'est beaucoup dévoué et a touché des milliers de vies. Il sera exposé les mercredi et jeudi 19 et 20 octobre de 15 h 30 à 20 h à la Cathédrale Grecque Orthodoxe de Saint-George (2455, Côte Ste-Catherine). Les funérailles auront lieu à la Cathédrale le vendredi 21 octobre 2005 à 10 h. Des dons en sa mémoire peuvent être faits à la Communauté Hellenique de Montréal, Résidence Reverend Salamis, 5777 Wilderton, Montréal, Qc, H3S 2V7. SALAMIS 1897-2005 Father Nicholas Salamis passed away peacefully at home in Montreal on October 15, 2005 at the age of one hundred and eight. He was born in Leka, Samos, Greece in 1897, the son of Constantine and Marigo. He followed his brother Basil to North America in 1914. He returned to Greece for 5 years in the 1930's. He married Efrosini Vergou in 1938 and was then ordained as a Greek Orthodox priest. During the 2nd World War he served at St George's Church in Toronto where his children Marika and Constantine were born. He travelled to communities big and small across Ontario at that time. He suffered the loss of his beloved wife in 1985 and more recently his son in May 2004. His life was one of service. During his long career he touched many lives. His love for the Greek community and its people was boundless. He is survived by daughter Marika Asimakopulos; his grand-daughters Anna and Julia; his great-grand-daughter Clara; his daughter-in-law Corinne Salamis; his nephews Constantine B. Salamis and Reverend Evangelos Georgiades and his niece Marika Panagopoulos, as well as many cousins. His body will lie in state at St. George's Cathedral, 2455 Cote Ste Catherine Rd., Wednesday and Thursday October 19 and 20 from 3:30 to 8pm. The funeral will be held at 10:00am on Friday October 21, 2005. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Hellenic Community of Montreal, Residence Reverend Salamis, 5777 Wilderton, Montreal, QC, H3S2V7.
