KILPATRICK, Rev. David G. It is with profound sadness the family of Rev. David Gordon Kilpatrick mourn his passing. He died at Hunter Memorial Hospital Teulon, MB on Friday, May 20th, 2005. Surrounded by his family, he went peacefully home into the loving arms of the God he served. David was born October 14, 1926 at Ottawa, ON; third son of Rev. Dr. George G. D. Kilpatrick and his wife Ruth McGillivray Fotheringham. Through childhood and adolescence he grew up and attended school in Ottawa, Hamilton, Montreal and Toronto. His summers were lived at the family's Go Home Bay Cottage. He obtained his BA (Honours History) from Bishops University. He attended McGill Divinity School for two of the three years taking his second year at St. Mary's C ollege, St. Andrews Scotland and received his B. Div. He was ordained to the ministry of the United Church of Canada in 1953 by Montreal, Ottawa Conference; the seventh generation of ministers in the Kilpatrick family. Dunring his student days he ser ved as summer supply on the Labrador Coast at Harrington Harbour. After ordination he was appointed as the first United Church Minister at Uranium City, SK. and was pivotal in establishing the church there and at the nearby Eldorado Mine. He then moved to the Marsden/Neilburg SK., charge in 1954. In 1957-58 he attended Harvard Divinity School at Andover Newton. In 1958 he was appointed "ordained supply" at Sydenham, ON., where he met and married his wife Emily Grace (Wood) in 1960. Together they ministered and raised their family of three, moving out West in 1964. He served charges in Western Canada including Lucky Lake, SK., Shellbrook, SK. and Teulon, MB where he eventually retired. His command of the spoken word was a strength in his min istry. His faith in the Christ he served never wavered and was especially noticeable in his conduct of funerals. His children Cynthia, Ian and Geoffrey have always enjoyed his love and support. The church was his life and his family his first love. H e was a gentle soul who loved the outdoors, animals, and a good-natured visit with anyone. He had a profound love of music and his Scottish heritage. He enjoyed acting and worked with the Fantasy Theatre for children from 1988-97. He was a member of the Teulon Volunteer Ambulance program, Teulon & District Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of the Teulon & District Lions Club. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Anne, brother Donald and sisters-in-law Ruth and Elizabeth. He is surv ived by his wife Emily Grace, his children Cynthia Eaton (David) Hope, Meredith, Amie and Seth; Ian (Karin) Cole, Campbell, and Christine; Geoffrey (Kristi-Lea); his brother John (Jean) of Toronto; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was eagerly anti cipating the imminent arrival of his eighth grandchild. Prayer service to be held at Teulon United Church Tuesday May 24 at 7:30 p.m Funeral service to be held at Teulon Centennial Hall Wednesday May 25 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Patricia McMahon officiat ing. Cremation to follow. All his parishioners, neighbours, fellow Lions and friends are to consider themselves Honorary Pallbearers. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Hunter Memorial and at H.S.C. Emergency for their excellent care of Dad.
