MCDONALD, Duncan John Duncan John McDonald, in his eightieth year, died 30th July, 2005 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital surrounded by his family. Dear husband of fifty-one years to Marguerite Stewart McDonald. Dear brother of Brian McDonald of Edm onton, Alberta. Much loved father of Holly Anne McCulloch (Robert) of Calgary, Alberta; Brian Stewart McDonald (Leisa) of Kingston, Ontario; and Duncan Grant McDonald (Penny) of Cornwall, Ontario. Grandfather of six; Ryan and Alistair McCulloch; Bree anna and Kaitlin McDonald; and Brady and Colin McDonald of whom he was so proud. Duncan was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on January 3, 1926. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, B.A., M.A., Hons. Chem., 1946, 1948. After graduati on, he joined Canadian Industries Limited (CIL) and came east to work at the Explosives Division in Beloeil and then in Montreal. When the "Terylene" Plant was built in Kingston in 1954 he transferred there as Chief Chemist and held various technical positions, ultimately Works Manager. In 1977, he was transferred to Celanese Head office, Montreal as Director of Textile Marketing and finally, General Manager of the Division. He retired to Kingston in 1987. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, and served on the Board of Directors of Theatre Five, Cataraqui Golf and Country Club, and was Treasurer and Chairman of the Board of the Kingston Public Library. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care shown to Duncan b y Sister Sandra, Dr. I. Stewart, the Nurses and Staff of the Palliative Care Unit, St. Mary's of the Lake Hospitial. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Ca taraqui Chapel (John Counter Blvd. at Hwy 2) on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Reverend Kathy Sage officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PCCCF, St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Palliative Care Unit or to the Kingston Unitarian Fellowship building fund in Duncan's memory.
