HAMES, Dr. Frederick Arthur Died peacefully, August 11, 2005 at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Born in Assiniboai, Saskatchewan, July 22, 1919. Survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Alice; daughters Leslie (late Neil Foster) and Danelle (Matthew Law); grandchildren John (Uyen), Robert (Christina) and Michael Foster; Iain and Andrew Law. Predeceased by his sisters Dorothy, Bernice, Helen, Mona and his brother William. Fred and Alice moved to Sidney after Fred retired from his career as Profe ssor of Metallurgical Engineering at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. Prior to teaching he served in the Canadian Armed Forces in WWII. In his earlier years in Sidney, he enjoyed gardening and playing euphonium in the Greater Victoria Concert B and.
