BEVERIDGE, Hazel Mildred Hazel Mildred Beveridge was born to parents Lilian and John Wesley Hunt on July 14, 1917. She grew up with brother Wesley (dec'd), sisters Alma (dec'd), Edith and Marjorie. Her lifetime of service to others began as a teenage r with her membership in the Helping Hands. This group of teenagers has, for the last 75 years visited the elderly, knitted bandages for lepers, sponsored children and helped others wherever and whenever they could. She married her one true love, Joh n Beveridge, on April 22, 1940 and stayed at his side until his death August 25, 1978. When John was overseas during WWII, Hazel worked as a manager at one of the Carroll's grocery stores in Hamilton. John and Hazel's children John Beveridge (Elena) and Jo-Anne Rundle (Alan) and grandchildren, Kelly, Patrick, Charles, Robert and Lillian, sisters Edith and Marjorie feel the void left by this remarkable woman. We remember her loving warmth and generosity. She never forgot a birthday, special occas ion or detail in any of our lives. Hazel was a lifetime volunteer at Chedoke Hospital, active member of the Hamilton Mountain Heritage Society, avid gardener and faithful member of St. Andrew's United Church UCW. She enjoyed the Hamilton Philharmonic and was also a member of the Women's Canadian Club. She cared deeply and was involved in all aspects of St. Andrews, rarely missing a service or event. Firm faith was the rock on which she built her life. Her life was extremely well rounded, a seaso ned traveler she was also an over the top sports fan. A regular attendee at the Tiger Cats football games last year she also cheered on her favourite baseball and hockey teams. While attending a Toronto Blue Jays game, her animated support of the tea m earned her "Fan of the day" and her picture was displayed on the Jumbotron. She enjoyed instant rapport with people, was a friend, confidante, and mother to many. Her home was not only her pride and joy, but also a place where friends and neighbour s visited, played bridge, made bazaar articles and enjoyed her boundless energy and happiness. She gave unconditional love and support, and lived life fully. A special thanks goes out to Greg, Alice, Violeta and especially Malvina whose experience, p ositive outlook and gentle respectful care helped ease her suffering. A celebration of her life will take place August 20, 2005 at St. Andrews United Church, 479 Upper Paradise Road in Hamilton at 11 a.m. 8/19/2005- ID6850499 - Kingston Whig Standard
