BALONYK, Stefan In loving memory of Stefan Balonyk, 81 years, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Centre, with his loving family at his side. Beloved son of Nykola and Olena Balonyk both predeceased. Dear brother of Andriy, Mychajlo and Wasyl, all predeceased. Dear uncle of Olena (Roman), Nykola (predeceased) wife Oksana, Viktor (predeceased), Ludmyla, Valentina, Stefan and Wasyl both predeceased, all of Ukraine. Very beloved and special great-uncle to Halyna and Natalia Kolomyjchuk of Sudbury and Lesia (Mychajlo) and family of Ukraine. Stefan was born December 01, 1923 in Horodnytcia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. During the 2nd World War, he was taken from his homeland to work in labour camps in Austria. He came to Canada and settled in Sudbury. He worked at Inco's Copper Refinery until 1985 when he retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and Inco's Quarter Century Club. Stefan was a people person who enjoyed meeting his friends downtown for coffee. He liked to garden, loved nature and was especially fond of "Charlie" his cockatiel. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Ave., Sudbury on Saturday, October 29th, 2005 at 10 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery, Sudbury. Panakhyda 7 p.m. Friday.
