Douglas Boyd Scotland November 30, 1930 - October 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) SCOTLAND, Douglas Boyd - 74. With great sadness the family of Doug "Scotty" Scotland announce his peaceful passing at home on October 28, 2005. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Horace and Pearl (Barry) Scotland. As a young boy, he played hockey on many of Dartmouth's lakes and in the summer enjoyed baseball, where he gained a reputation as a fine athlete. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy for 30 years, retiring in 1979 and a member of the Canadian Naval Air Group. His passion throughout life was hockey and he was well respected as an accomplished player. He played for the Shearwater Flyers and in the Shearwater Old-timers and Halifax-Dartmouth Old-timers League. He also coached minor and Old-timers hockey. He was a member of St. Alban's Parish in Woodside. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Fay (Osborne); sons, Wayne (Linda), Terry (Heather); daughters, Cheryl (Brent Moxon), Heather; sisters, Audrey Morash, Kathy (Alan) Faulkner; grandchildren, Colin (Leanne MacPhee), Tracy, Jillian, Stephanie; great-granddaughter, Madison; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where family and friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, October 30. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, Rev. William Sheppard officiating. Private family interment to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the St. Alban's Memorial Fund.
