Howard Clowes May 21, 1924 - November 02, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on November 2, 2005 Howard Clowes passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 81. Howie leaves to mourn his wife, Marjory, of 57 years, son Brian, daughters Margery Lee (Tony) and Betty Lynne (Darrell), son Richard, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Howard Eugene Clowes, better known as “Howie” was born in Fredericton, NB, on May 21, 1924 and went to school in Lower Norton, NB. After graduation he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served on “The Saint John” from 1942-1945. On discharge he worked for the Treasury Department of the Department of Veterans Affairs until he went on training to be a Remedial Physical Training Instructor at the Lancaster Military Hospital in Saint John. In 1954 he joined the R.C.A.F. and served as a Physical and Recreational Instructor (P.E.R.I.) until 1974. He then spent 15 years with the C.P. Railway Police. Howie was an active volunteer with Oak Hammock Marsh and enjoyed golf, curling and hunting in the fall. He was a Past Master of Keystone Lodge and a member of The Valley of Winnipeg Scottish Rite, Past Patron of Queen Winnipeg #1 and St. James #25 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of A.N.A.F. While in Saint John he was a member of the New Brunswick Scottish Regiment Reserve. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital, 5th floor for their care and compassion. Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 7, at 12:30 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
