Lawrence "Laurie" D. Grant August 18, 1919 - November 04, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) GRANT, Lawrence D. "Laurie" - 86, Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, passed away peacefully Friday, November 4, 2005. Born August 18, 1919, in Port Hastings, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Alex and Maggie (MacNeil) Grant. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family of 14 children. Laurie was predeceased by his wife, Winnifred M. "Winnie" (Stacey), earlier this year. Laurie was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Canadian Army. After the war, he was employed in men's retail for 37 years in a variety of positions where he became very well-known and respected. He enjoyed his work very much. Laurie is survived by sons, Lawrence F. (Mary Lou), Fredericton; Judson A. (Holly), Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Ann LeBlanc, Heather, Alex and Ryan Grant; great-grandchildren, Katie, Owen, Hailie, Jacob, and another on the way. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Harley Kynock officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Laurie's memory to Parkinson Foundation Canada, Maritime Region, 290-5991 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS B3H 1Y6, would be appreciated.
