Francis "Steve" Stephen Williams March 21, 1925 - November 05, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) WILLIAMS, Francis Stephen "Steve" - 80, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 5, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born March 21, 1925, in Dundee, Scotland, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Stephen) Williams. Steve worked as a Marine Engineer with Blue Funnel Lines (Merchant Marines). He came to Canada in 1958 and worked with the Department of Transport as Chief Engineer. He also supervised overhauls and refits of vessels with the Canadian Naval Auxiliary, Halifax, and then took on numerous consulting jobs all over the world including the Middle East, Africa and Houston. One of Steve's most prized accomplishments was being involved with the building of "The Quest", a Naval Auxiliary Vessel. He was a lifetime member of the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineers, past president and member of the United Commercial Travelers and an active member of Grandview Golf and Country Club. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Mary Twaddle; daughter, Aileen Williams, Moncton; son, Stephen (Ellen), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Erin and Matthew Murphy, Dustin O'Leary; sisters, Aileen Heeps, Margaret Chambers; several nieces, all of Scotland. He was predeceased by brother, Jackie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Steve's family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Chenard officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Family flowers only.
