Maria Van Herwaarden (née Furst) April 05, 1922 - November 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Maria passed away in her sleep on Sunday, November 13, 2005. Maria was born on April 5, 1922 in Austria. An Auschwitz survivor, she immigrated to Toronto, Ontario where she met Tony and they were married in 1956. They came to reside in Youbou, BC in 1966. Survived by her loving husband Tony; sons Tony Jr. (Liz) and Edwin (Melita); grandchildren O’ressa, David, Kyle, Rylie; and sister Franzi (Elmer). A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC. Flowers gratefully declined.
