COLLINS, Mary - 88 - (nee Bruce) Passed away peacefully early on Monday, November 21, 2005 at Woods Park Care Centre, Barrie. Mary was born in England and received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in French in 1937 and a teaching diploma in 1938, both from the University of London. She, and her husband, John moved to Canada in 1949 where Mary continued to enjoy a successful and fulfilling career as a teacher. Mary had a passion for knowledge, was a born linguist, loved the French language, and was keenly interested in her students. Mary was predeceased by her husband John, and brother Harold Bruce, and is survived by her daughters Margaret Collins and Anne Collins (Donald), sister-in-law and brother-in-law Paul and Bob Shanks, niece Mary Siteman, and nephew Mike Shanks. Many thanks to Mary and John's special friends, Kay and Rob Guy. Friends may call at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM Funeral Home (Clapperton and Worsley Streets), Barrie, on Friday from 12 p.m. until time of Service in the chapel on Friday, November 25th, 2005 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to the ABC Literacy Foundation of Canada.
