OBITUARY ROBERT BURNS STRONACH January 25, 1923 - November 24, 2005 Bob passed away peacefully at Chateau Westmount in Montreal on November 24, 2005 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by Margaret (McGarry), his loving wife of 55 years. Beloved father of James (Heather) of Ottawa and Ian (Rosemary) of Montreal. Much loved grandfather of Andrew (Julie), Matthew, Elizabeth and Thomas. Bob was the son of Alex and Julia Maude (Nickerson) and brother of Jack who all predeceased him. Bob grew up in Moncton and began his career with The Royal Bank of Canada in 1940, retiring in 1983 after a career spanning five decades. Bob's career with the Royal Bank was interrupted only by his service as an Officer with the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War Two. He later served in the Royal Canadian Army Pay Corps (Reserves) and retired in 1972 as a Major. Following his retirement, Bob was for many years an active playing member at the Royal Montreal Curling Club and a long-time member of the St. Andrew's Society of Montreal. Above all, Bob will be remembered for his love of his family and pride in their accomplishments, his Scottish heritage, and for his tireless attention to details and number crunching! A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005, at Mountainside United Church (formerly St. Andrews / Dominion Douglas United Church), 4000 The Boulevard (at Roslyn) in Westmount. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Parkinson Society of Quebec in his memory would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Collins Clarke MacGillivray White (Sherbrooke St. W.).
