Medford George Lyon January 07, 1913 - November 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home * LYON......Medford George, age 92, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, on Sunday, November 27, 2005, surrounded by his family. Born on January 7, 1913, in Sweets Corner, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Robert Lyon and Annie (Caldwell) Shiers. At a young age, he went to work on the railroad, later worked in the woods, farmed, and worked as a labourer with H. Loomer Greenhouses, and Avon Valley Greenhouses until his retirement. He worked hard and played hard, being very athletic he enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially enjoyed filming them in his home movies. He was married November 25, 1936 to Myrtle A. Stoddard and lived to celebrate 69 years of marriage. He is survived by, his wife of 69 years, the former Myrtle A. Stoddard; son, Stewart, Upper Falmouth; daughters, Ruth (Jim) Wile, Falmouth; Marion (Finlay) Quinn, Mount Denson; Annie (Don) Wilson, Mount Denson; Judy (Kenny) Davison, Gaspereau; Pat (Will) Thomas, Hantsport; grandchildren, Derek, Brian, Randy, Darlene, Benny, Jimmie, Joe, Trenton, Tia, George, Kenny, Jason, Monique, Carmen, Bernie, Ronnie, Laurie, Cindy, Robert and families; 30 great-grandchildren; paternal half-brothers and sisters, Ida Dimock, Colin Lyon, Fred Lyon, Bill Lyon, Nancy Flynn, Kathy Villafeurtre and families; maternal half-brothers and sisters, Tom Shiers, Owen Shiers, Mary Swinamer and families; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John Starr in infancy (Judy's twin); brother, Stewart Lyon; half-sister, Margaret Ettinger; half brothers, Chauncy Caldwell and Frank Shiers. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Craig Faulkner officiating. Burial to follow in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
