Johannes "Joe" VanderMarel April 01, 1933 - December 01, 2005 Peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 1, 2005, Joe VanderMarel in his 73rd year. Beloved husand of the late Barandina VanderMarel (nee Tenhove) and beloved companion of Elaine Mountford. Loved father of Wanda VanderMarel, Murray VanderMarel, both of Carlisle, Jeanette VanderMarel Skinner and her husband Scott of Hamilton, and Diane and Danny Jackson of Carlisle. Loved Opa of Jennifer VanderMarel and Nick Prouse, Kayla and Michael VanderMarel, Breanne VanderMarel (predeceased), and Liam Jackson. Also survived by his brother John of Hornby, and sisters Cor, Bep, Sari, and Wil in the Netherlands. Emigrating from Holland in 1952, Joe was a life-long fruit farmer, including apple farming in Carlisle since 1968. "Apple Joe" was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Friends may call at the KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill Street North, Waterdown on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at CARLISLE UNITED CHURCH, 1432 Centre Rd on Monday, December 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
