Stephanie Rankel (née Refchuk) June 09, 1917 - December 01, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) Peacefully on December 1, 2005, Stephanie Rankel passed away at Concordia Hospital. She is survived by husband Fred, daughter Cathy (Jerry) Afoon, step grandchildren Brandy and Sean Afoon (Colleen Beach), sisters Violet Rebiffe and Anne Lasota. Her parents Michael and Catharina Refchuk, sister Vicky Brownstein, brothers Rudolph and Ben Refchuk predeceased her. Mom and Dad met in 1950 and shortly thereafter they married and had a daughter Cathy. Mom had lived in Winnipeg all her life. She never cared for traveling but took pleasure in taking trips with Dad to the cottage to enjoy the birds and chipmunks. Mom was also fond of going to the Casino with Cathy and Jerry. She enjoyed cooking, her specialty was holubchi and perogies. Mom loved gardening and took pride in caring for her begonias on Toronto Street. After living on Toronto Street for over 40 years, Mom and Dad decided to move next to their family in East Kildonan. Private family service will be held on Monday December 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
