MacALLISTER, Marjorie E. - in her 73rd year while fighting cancer with her usual spunk and courage, in palliative care in her birthplace of Fredericton, New Brunswick on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Born on January 10th, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Clark) Barrett. She was a former sales clerk at Zeller's, Grafton's and Jack Fraser's in Peterborough. Beloved mother of Ed Arnold (Lorna) of Peterborough and Dixie Mitchell (Galen) formerly of Peterborough now of Fredericton. She will be sadly missed by her local grandchildren, Kimberly of Whitby and Scott of Peterborough and her Peterborough sister Geraldine "Deannie" (Dewar) and her husband, Jack, as well as nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other relatives in Peterborough. She is also survived by her husband, Robert of Fredericton; children, three step-children, Robert B. MacAllister (Lisa) of Fredericton, NB, Keith MacAllister (Gail) of Bath, ON, and Lynn Joy (Wayne) of Ottawa, ON; nine grandchildren; as well as brothers, William Barrett (Jean) of Fredericton and Stanley Barrett (Sue) of Lincoln, NB; sisters, Joyce Matthews of Fredericton, Barb Bird of Fredericton and Jo Gillies (Gerald) of Lincoln, NB as well as nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S. Marjorie was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed her family. She loved flowers and spent many hours working in her garden. She was also known for her many years of dedication to the Legion's poppy campaign in Fredericton. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Cathcart officiating. A Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4 tribute will be held at the memorial service. Interment will be at the Red Bank Cemetery in Chipman, NB at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Peterborough may be made to the local YMCA children's camp fund so children who can't camp can (c/o YMCA on Murray Street).
