Albert Henry Land 1908 - 2005 HOPEWELL CAPE, NB - Albert Henry Land, 96, of Hopewell Cape passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Forest Dale Home with his family by his side. Albert was born in North Doncaster, England on August 15, 1908 the son of the late George Henry and Sarah Ann (Sephton) Land. Upon arrival in Canada from England he worked for several farms in the area, where he met his true love Frances Carlin. He later worked at T.Eaton Company retiring after 25 years of service. Then he became the Post Master for the Hopewell Cape area for 10 years. He was a member of the Hopewell Cape Baptist Church and was very involved, teaching Sunday School, serving as Superintendant and a Deacon and also singing in the Men's Choir for many years. Albert was known for his smile and always enjoyed a good laugh, he had a great sense of humour. Albert never had a bad word to say about anyone. He also really enjoyed playing checkers, he was hard to beat. Most of all he loved times spent with his family and looked forward to all the visits from his grandchildren and loved to see his great grandchildren come. He was a special man who will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his devoted son Mel Land (Beverly) of Hopewell Cape; his seven beloved grandchildren and his precious great grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Frances (Carlin) Land in 1996; daughter Shirley Christopher in 2004; two brothers and a sister. At the family's request there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at 2pm with Rev. Kevin Mahoney officiating. Internment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape in the spring. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further fellowship, sharing of memories and refreshments at the funeral home. Donations to the NB Lung Association or to the Charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Homecare workers that took such good care of Albert, which allowed him to remain in his own home for so long. A special thanks to Faye Rossiter for all the personalized care she gave to Albert, it meant so much to the family.
