Harry William DOBBIN

DOBBIN, HARRY WILLIAM - Harry William Dobbin, aged 90 years, died at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 16, 2005 with his daughter Pam at his side. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Winnifred (Given) Dobbin in May 2004 and his son David William in June 2004 and his grandson Andrew. He came to live with his daughter Pam and her husband Jim after the deaths of Winnie and Dave. Surviving are his daughters Marilyn Walker (Toronto), Janice Dobbin (Toronto), Susan McCurdy (Beirut), and Pamela McLellan (Rothesay). His grandchildren (Becky, Peter, Carrie, Trevor, Jane, Matthew, Liza, Cynthia, and Krista) will lovingly remember him for his sharp wit, his jokes and sense of humour as well as for the forts and swings he created for them and the picnics on the Kennebecasis. Harry was delighted to be a great grandfather to Sophie and Ben. Harry was pre-deceased many years ago by his sisters Mildred, Dorothy, Ruth, Marjorie and Jean. He is survived by his brothers Tom and Frank, both in Ontario. Given the recent deaths of their mother and brother, Harry's daughters will hold a private graveside ceremony for the family in the spring at Saint Luke's Anglican Cemetery, Gondola Point, NB. In memory of Harry, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Harry served in the Canadian Navy during WWII, and was retired as a Telephone Pioneer from NB Tel over 30 years ago. He spent many winters in Florida with Winnifred. He created extraordinary gardens and landscaping on his properties. He was a voracious reader and maintained his wit right up until the end.
