SHORE, Philip Michael Former Teacher, Vice-Principal Union Leader, Social Worker Suddenly, in an Ottawa hospital, on Monday, January 10, 2005 at age 66. Formerly of Montreal, Phil was the much loved father of Mark (Christiana), Brian (Becky) and Andrew, all of Ottawa, and the cherished grandfather of Samantha, Margot and Isabel. He will also be missed by siblings Bob (Marg) of Vancouver, Kieran (Janet) of Ottawa, Margaret (late John Ruffo) of Toronto, Mary (Marty) of California and Jack (Jenny) of New Zealand, and former wife Heather Campbell-Shore, along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Michael Shore and Ann Doyle, sisters Joan and Agnes (Patrick Whelan) and brother Mike (Suzanne Cote). Phil spent many years teaching in the Montreal area and had a lasting impact on many of his students and the youth he helped as a social worker. He had a keen sense of fairness and was quick to lend a hand to those in need. Despite failing health in recent years, Phil kept his wicked humour sharp until the end, to the delight of many of the third-floor staff and residents at Extendicare Medex. The family wishes to thank the Medex staff for their dedication to Phil. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Remembrances can be e-mailed to brian.shore@rogers.com and donations to UNICEF would be appreciated.
