William E. HAVERCROFT

HAVERCROFT, William E. Energy Mines and Resources 1939-79 Pioneer in Canadian N.D.T. Honourary Life Member C.I.N.D.E. Peacefully at Ottawa Hospital - Civic Campus on Saturday January 22, 2005 in his 90th year. William Havercroft, dear husband of the late Eleanor Steele. Son of the late Richard W. Havercroft and May Bennett. Predeceased by his sister Dora (Mrs. Victor Perkins) and his sister-in-law Pearl Cameron. Bill will be remembered dearly by his goddaughter Elizabeth (Mrs. Laurie Hugill) and her children Kristen and Drew. Bill was a pioneer in the field of Non Destructive Testing and in 1977 was recognized with an award named in his honour. The William E. Havercroft Award is given annually to a member of C.I.N.D.E. who has made an outstanding contribution towards N.D.T in Canada. Bill also worked extensively with the RCMP in training and development of N.D.T. procedures. Friends may pay their respects at the Whelan Funeral Home, 515 Cooper Street (between Bay & Lyon) on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held privately in the spring.
