Bruce SINE

Bruce Sine, 83 Bruce Sine, 83, retired from Phillips Cables, died January 2 at Brockville General Hospital. He had been ill for a year from heart disease and complications from a broken hip. He was born June 8, 1921 in Murray Township to Benjamin Franklin Sine and the former Mary Cassibeault. He attended public school in Frankford and Bloomfield (near Belleville) and moved with his family in 1932 to Brockville, where he attended Prince of Wales Public School and Brockville Collegiate Institute. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, during the Second World War, and was discharged in 1945. From 1940 to 1983, except during the war, he worked at Phillips Cables in the purchasing department. He lived in Athens from 1960 to 1984 and moved back to Brockville in 1984. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brockville, devoting most of his life to serving the local congregation, including service as an elder. His other interests were his family, photography and cooking. He is survived by his second wife, the former Helen Golledge, whom he married in Brockville in 1984; four sons, Donald Sine and wife Luella and Ken Sine and wife Joanne, of Brockville, Michael Love and wife Leona of Edmonton and Richard Love and wife Françoise of Ottawa; one daughter Nancy Nofal and husband John of Ottawa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Audrey Sine of Brockville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Fraser, his parents, brother Eugene Sine, sisters Rhoda McNamara and Neva Hubbs and daughter-in-law Elaine Sine. Arrangements including cremation were made through the Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville. A memorial service was held January 5 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, on Victoria Road, with Paul Boyko officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society or Maple View Lodge, Athens, were gratefully acknowledged by the family.
