Kenneth Pius Power November 18, 1937 - January 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) POWER, Kenneth Pius - 67, Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully in QEII Health Sciences Centre on January 28, 2005, after a short illness, with his loving family by his side. Born in 1937 in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Kathleen (Tobin) Power. Ken was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Fleet Diving Unit) from 1955 to 1976, after which he was employed with the Halifax County Correctional Centre until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the First Sackville Presbyterian Church, Lower Sackville and a member of the Royal Canada Legion, Branch 162, Lower Sackville. He was one of a kind; a wonderful father and poppie and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Parker (Loyn MacLeod), Dartmouth; Kenneth Power (Elizabeth), Edmonton; Karen Lajoie (Alain), Calgary; Douglas Power (Linda), Calgary; Ian MacPhail (Carolyn); Lower Sackville; stepson, Grant MacMiken, Toronto; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Scott, Ellen (Winnie) Gallant, Brenda Belaire, and brother, John Power, all of Toronto; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Joy (MacPhail); brothers, Clarence and Douglas; sister, Phyllis; two sisters in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 162, Old Sackville Road, Lower Sackville. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Lake Ainslie, beside his loving wife, Joy. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
