Lawrence "Laurie" William Thomas Howe May 28, 1914 - January 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) HOWE, Lawrence William Thomas "Laurie" - Died January 29, 2005, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born May 29, 1914, he was the eldest son of the late William and Daisy (Hiles) Howe. While residing in Dartmouth for 70 plus years, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years serving during war and peace. He was then employed at the Halifax Dockyard for the next 18 years. Laurie was a life member of Chief and Petty Officers Mess, HMCS Stadacona and a member of Federal Superannuates Retired Association. His passions other than family were his woodworking and Dartmouth Continuing Education, golf at the Oakfield Golf Club and reading. Surviving are daughter, Melda; sons, David, Ray (Claire); sister, May; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; stepsisters, Mildred, Marjorie, Shirley; half-brothers, Bill and Brian. He was predeceased by wife, Grace (Landry); brothers, Gordon, Arthur, Garfield "Pee Wee"; sister, Violet (Whynot); stepsister, Audrey; half-brothers, Kenneth and George. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, February 2, at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Arthur Snow officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to "Friends of Windsor Regional Library", P.O.
