Mrs. Ida "Nona" C. Ravanello (née Polegato) January 01, 1907 - January 31, 2005 Funeral arrangements by V J McGilivray Funeral Homes (Glace Bay) IDA C. “NONA” RAVANELLO 1907 – 2005 DOMINION It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ida Ravanello age 98. Ida passed away Monday, January 31, 2005 at Seaview Manor Nursing Home, Glace Bay where she has been a resident the past year. Ida was formerly from Henry Street, Dominion where she lived with her daughter, Luigia and granddaughter, Miranda Demeyere. Born in Treviso, Italy she was the daughter of the late Secondo and Giovanna (Michelin) Polegato. Ida came to Canada as a young bride and lived in Dominion most of her life. She was a member of St. Eugene’s Parish, Dominion. Ida was a life long member of the Italian Community Hall, Dominion. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughters, Lena (Geverino) Gazzola, Guelph,Ont., Livia Gallina, Niagara Falls, Ont. and Luigia Demeyere. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, sister, Mary (Charlie) Zaniol, Niagara Falls and her extended family of the Ground Floor at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Mario, daughter, Laura, grandson, Andrew Tratnik, two great granddaughters and one great great grandson in infancy. Visitation for Mrs. Ravanello will be held Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Eugene’s Church, Dominion. Fr. Jim Oliver will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
