James Mitchell HARRISON

HARRISON, JAMES MITCHELL - James Mitchell Harrison of Saint John passed away peacefully on February 1, 2005. A long term resident of the Loch Lomond Villa, D-Wing, he was born to the late Peter and Jessica (Mitchell) Harrison in Scotland on November 29, 1926, immigrating to Canada in 1929. Jimmy was devoted to his wife, the late Reta (Breau) Harrison who predeceased him on May 2, 2001. Jimmy loved Cape Breton and made frequent trips to his second home in Neils Harbour. He served in the Merchant Navy during World War II. He retired from the Irving Oil Refinery. Jimmy is survived by daughter Marcia (Glenn Foote), son Mitchell (Glenda), daughter Zandra Theriault (Rod Hanley), and grandchildren Shawn, Carla, Ryan, Jonathan, Andrew, Jessica, Erin, Devon, and Brandon, all of Saint John. He is also survived by sons Terry and Kevin, daughters April (Hupple) and Linda (Ross), brother Robert, sister Margaret (Chisholm), 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, all of Ont. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by son James, brothers Thomas and Peter, and sister Mary (Lewis). Resting at A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street, Saint John, NB (506-634-1712), with visitation Thursday, February 3rd, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A tribute to a veteran service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated by Rev. Wally Corey on Friday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. from Cavanagh Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens following the service. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
