E "Mookie" Muriel Porter May 07, 1925 - February 02, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) PORTER, E. Muriel "Mookie" - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Muriel (Robbins) Porter, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away suddenly at home on February 2, 2005. Born in Digby, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Edna (Rice) Robbins (Smiths Cove). Mookie, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a very loving person whose family was the most important thing to her. She was a retired employee of the Nova Scotia Power Corporation. Muriel was a very active member of her church for many years. Her door was always open to people of all ages, and we will all miss her treats from the kitchen. Nothing pleased her more than gatherings at the camp. Muriel is survived by her daughter, Joan and husband Bill Jandron; much-loved grandchildren, Ryan (Sandra), Calgary; Melanie, Halifax; great-grandson, Kaleb, Calgary. She is also survived by her brother, Otis (Alice) Robbins, Smiths Cove; sisters, Kay (Gerald) Young, Smiths Cove; Sheila (Ben) Marshall, Hillgrove; Nancy (Russell) Taylor, Truro; many loving nieces and nephews. Special friends, Sandy, Pauline, Marg, Molly and Jean will miss her dearly. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1974; brothers, Chesley, Glendon, Dale, Alexander, a baby sister and grandson, Craig. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, at 2 p.m. in Sheffield Baptist Church, Pastor Brent Carter officiating. A reception will follow in the church. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Donations in Muriel's memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
