ANTHONY, BERNARD MUNRO Bernard Munro (Ben) Anthony, formerly of 680 Dobie Street of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully at the York Manor Nursing Home on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the age of 94. Born in Boston, U.S.A, on August 29, 1910, he was the son of Ellen "Nellie" (Sullivan) and Arthur Munro Anthony. In his early years the family moved to Nova Scotia and settled in Hants County where he got his education. Following completion of high school he attended Normal College in Truro and taught for some years. (1944) Later he went to work with CMHC in Halifax during the construction of the Wartime houses there. He was offered a transfer to Fredericton to oversee the construction of the Wartime houses being built here. In addition his job expanded to Woodstock, NB and he was in charge of the 200 Wartime houses under construction there. He worked himself into an Administration position - upgrading and improving the building codes and standards. He was one of the chief building inspectors and supervised all homes being built through CMHC for all of NB. He worked at CMHC for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1973. He had many hobbies and interests. He built the home he raised his family in. He also built a camp overlooking the Nashwaak River. He really enjoyed spending time here with his family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish, tie flies, garden and walk his little dog. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Flynn and Helen Dale (James Hersey) of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Mark, Heather and Stephen Flynn, Dale and Terri Lynn Hersey; nine great-grandchildren; one sister Juanita Robinson of Stoney Creek, ON. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary Helen (Currie); son Donald; grandson Michael Flynn; and brother Leslie. No flowers or visitation by his request. Funeral Service will be held at the T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Thursday, February 10th at 7 pm. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or any charity of the donor's choice.
