FORD, ROBERT J. The death of Robert J. Ford, husband of Iva (Kierstead) Ford of Charters Settlement, NB, occurred on February 8th, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Iva, two sons, and one brother. Robert was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, having served in the Canadian Army Signal Corps with service in the Congo. Following military duty, Robert was employed by Canada Post for over 35 years, retiring as Superintendent of Operations in 1991. He was a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church and served as usher captain. Robert was a HAM radio operator (VE9RQ) and enjoyed traveling. There will be no visitation or funeral service at Robert's request. Following cremation, Robert's ashes will be scattered privately. For those who wish, memorial tributes to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
