Ivy Lillian GARRARD

STARK, Ivy Lillian (nee Garrard), Peacefully at the Douglas Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in her 85th year. Born July 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Garrard. Devoted wife of Michael Stark, her husband of 53 years and loved mother of Michele (Gregory) Legge, David and Timothy (Anita). Beloved grandmother of Jessica (Alex) Middleweek and Amanda Stark. Also left to mourn is Linda Stark. Proud and loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews in England, Canada and the U.S.A.; survived also by her cousin Wyn Harvey in England. Ivy will be sadly missed by her devoted Sunday Brunch friends. Predeceased by her daughter Stephanie (1981), Granddaughter Christine (2000) and and her sibl ings Robert (Len), Florence, Louise, Joyce and David. Born in England, Ivy was a nursing sister during World War II. She came to Welland after the war where she worked as a nurse in the old Welland Hospital and she met and married Mike. In 1955 they founded the L&M Ambulance Service, one of the first professional ambulance services in the Niagara Peninsula. She always considered her children and family her first priority. Ivy was a prolific knitter and avid crossword puzzle fan. Friends may call at THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
