Robert Lutz December 20, 1919 - February 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Robert “Papa” Lutz. A former resident of Hobbs Manor, Dad passed away at the Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen Alice Lutz; daughter Carol and son-in-law Larry Anderson of Carroll, MB; son Bill and daughter-in-law Diane Lutz of Vancouver, BC; two grandchildren, Bobby Anderson (Nikki) of Calgary, AB and Sabrina Anderson (Adam) of Flin Flon, MB. He is survived by his sisters, Hazel Nabbs and Lillian Schneiders (Thunder Bay, ON), Junette (Stu) Taylor of BC, Helen (Joe) Thomas of Winnipeg, MB; and nieces, Emily (Dave) Hewitt and Margie (Wes) Koskie of Winnipeg, MB; brother-in-law Walter Devodder; as well as other numerous nieces and nephews. Dear to him was his brother-in-law Sam (Deanna) Pomeranski of Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his parents Adolf and Emilige Lutz; sisters Herta, Blondine, Donna, Shirley; and brother Walter. Dad was born in Moosehorn, MB, the third child of a family of ten. He came to Winnipeg at six years of age. He started his working career by helping his dad in the blacksmith shop. Then he worked for Claydon’s Company from 1946 to 1956 and moved on to the Winnipeg City Police Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1979. Robert and Helen were married in 1946. They were each other’s best friend and enjoyed their lives in Winnipeg and, later on, in Brandon. Dad was a loving, caring and devoted husband and father. Dad was happiest working with his hands. He loved gardening, saskatoon and mushroom picking, and woodworking. He enjoyed people and was a wonderful dancer and singer. Dad was a kind, gentle man who was ready to help anyone. He loved a good joke and patted every dog he met. He volunteered at the Brooklands Pioneer Centre in Winnipeg and spent many happy times there. A big part of all our lives is gone. We will all miss you, Papa. Dad’s wonderful sense of humour and his love for his family was evident in everything he did. Bye, Papa.
