SMITH, WILLIAM (BILL) N. The sudden passing of Bill Smith occurred on February 11, 2005. Bill was born in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; the son of the late Hugh & Catherine Smith. Retired after 32 years with the Province of New Brunswick Civil Service, Bill was an active member of St. Anthony's Parish and a member of the Fredericton Golden Club and was an avid gardener. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie (Savage), two daughters and five sons - Carolyn & husband Roy Pottier; Sharon & husband, Andrew Forrest; Douglas and partner Donna; Robert and partner Sherry; Patrick and wife Gisele; Brian and wife Joan; Keith and wife Diane. Bill is also survived by two sisters: Geraldine Clements and Marjorie (Bryant) Prosser and two brothers: Wallace (Marion), and David (Betty). Bill was a devoted grandfather to 13 grandchildren: Angela & Adam Pottier; Shawn, Erin and Jason Smith; Amy and Barry Forrest; Robyn, Amber and Mark Smith; Corey Smith; Shane & Kelly Smith; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Smith and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by sister, Charlotte. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2005 from 2 - 4 pm, and 7 - 9 pm. The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Parish on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 11:00 am. Rev. Monty Peters will be officiating. Internment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gordon Skead, Rick Noble, Ron Gamble, Bob Rice, Roger LeBlanc, and Frank Beatty. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
