Robert E. SCHAAF

SCHAAF, ROBERT E, P.ENG. Of Fredericton, NB passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Saturday, February 12th, after a brief illness. Born in Moline, Illinois, he was the son of the late Roy and Helen (Van Weil) Schaaf. He will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend, Aila; son Mark and Brenda Schaaf; stepsons Derrick Strickland and Keith and Priscilla Strickland and daughters Kate and John Strohyj; Mari and Rick Miller; Debbie and Paul Annett; Barbara and Elizabeth Schaaf. He graduated from St. Joseph's College in Indiana and enjoyed a distinguished career as a Geological Consultant, working in the mining industry for many years. He had been employed by both Kennecott and Anaconda. He mentored many geologists and engineers over the years and is remembered for his remarkable organizational skills and insight. He loved nature, the outdoors, his garden and his little dog Sydney. There will be no visitation by request. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on February 18th, 2005 at 12:00 PM with Msgr. Brian G. Sheehan as celebrant. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the mass. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
