Eleanor Francis Burke (née Hogan) Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) BURKE (Hogan), Eleanor Francis - 84, Parkland Estates, Halifax, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2005. Born in Tignish, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Laura (Christopher) and Henry Hogan. Eleanor graduated from secretarial college in Charlottetown and moved to Nova Scotia in the 1930's. She was employed at the Halifax Dockyard during the war and worked at various secretarial positions throughout her career, retiring in 1985 from the Department of National Defence. She enjoyed walking, spending time with family, and in her younger years, vacations to Prince Edward Island. Eleanor will be sadly missed by sons, Ozzie (Colleen), Lower Sackville; Lloyd (Sheila), Halifax; Blaine (Karen), Halifax; daughter, Janis (Mrs. Robert Holmes), Lower Sackville. Eleanor has grandchildren: Deanna, Shawna, Stacey, Danielle, Dana and Christopher, and great-grandchildren: Jesse, Racquel, Ava, Thea, Adrianna, Alexis, Paige, Colby and Caden. Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur Oswald; sisters, Mary and Rufina, and brother, Lloyd. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road, where visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road.
