Clarence Frederick Shaffer ELGIN, NB - Clarence Frederick Shaffer of Elgin, NB, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the age of 87. Born March 12, 1917 in Church Hill, NB, he was a son of the late George and Adeline (Douthwright) Shaffer. Clarence was a member of the Church Hill United Church, a life member of the Conservative Party of Canada. He served in the Canadian Army during WWII. He was employed at Fundy National Park, the Department of Transportation and retired from the Corp of Commissionaires in 1985. Clarence was a maple sugar producer and operated his own hobby farm. A devoted family man who loved his family and friends dearly. He is survived by his wife, Myra Shaffer (Harrison); children, Calvin Shaffer (Lillian) of Church Hill, Brenda Martin (Ted) of Elgin, Nadine Brown (David) of Petitcodiac, Greg Shaffer of Church's Corner; grandchildren, Derrick, Cindy, Aaron, Stacy, Andrew, Corrie, Colby and Travis; great grandchildren, Riley, Connor and Emily; a sister, Annie Kyle (Clem) of Petitcodiac; brothers-in-law, Chris Geldart of the Jordan Life Care Center and Alan Orr of Moncton; as well as his best friends, Hilyard and Kathleen Bannister of Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, N.B., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Armstrong's Funeral Home on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 2:30 PM, with Rev. Charlotte Youland officiating. The interment will take place at the Church Hill Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.armstrongsfh.com
