Kathleen Eva Rose SMALL

BUCKLEY, KATHLEEN EVA ROSE - 88; of North Head, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Saturday evening, February 19th, 2005. Born in North Head she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura ( Thomas ) Small. She left Grand Manan Island to study at Mount Allison University in the 1940's, from there she went on to teach at Guysborough NS. Later she moved to Cornwall, ON where she met her late husband James and married in 1955. They had there first child Laura in 1956 followed by their son John in 1959. Although they made their home in Etobicoke Kathleen always returned to the Whale Cove Cottages on Grand Manan Island every summer from the 1930's and later took over as soul proprietor and ran the business until 1978. From that time on Kathleen and James found time together in their retirement years where she enjoyed and will be remembered for her political arguments, her love of music and theatre, and enjoying a glass of sherry with her many friends. Mrs. Buckley is survived by one daughter Laura Elizabeth Buckley, North Head, and one brother Scott Tatton (Ruth), North Head. Mrs. Buckley was predeceased by her husband James, one son John, and one sister Mary Small. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 25th, 2005 at the Church of The Ascension, at 1:30 PM.
