Clarence "Junior" George. A Tynes June 07, 1933 - February 20, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) TYNES, Clarence George A. "Junior" - 71. It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Clarence on February 20, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Clarence Jr. was the only son of the late Clarence "Chink" and Evelyn Tynes (Harrigan). He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Elsie Clyke. Surviving are his wife, Pauline (Cromwell), Lawrencetown; sons, Anthony, Vancouver; Gordon (Jennifer), Cole Harbour; Zachary (Sandy), Minesville; Thomas, Dartmouth; daughter, Joyda (Norbert), Tynes-Simons, Lawrencetown; nine grand-children and one great-grandson; sisters, Marlene (Leslie) Clyke, Halifax; Marva (George) Carter, Montreal, and Veronica (James) Alleyne, Victoria. After graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School, Clarence joined the RCAF. He served for 30 years, retiring in 1985 as a Chief Medical Physician's Assistant, with 18 years in the RCN Medical Services. After retiring from the military services he spent 10 years in the Life Insurance business. Clarence was a very active and well-known member of the Masonic Order: Raised in Equity Lodge No. 106, 1978, he served as Worshipful Master, 1982 and 1983; was appointed Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Puerto Rico, 1987; served as Grand Sword Bearer of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia, 1989; was appointed D.D.G.M., 2nd Halifax City District, 1992; was conferred with the rank and title of (Hon) P.S.G.W., G.L.N.S., 1999; and was awarded the Meritorious Service award, 2003. He was also an active member of the following Concordant Bodies: Scottish Rite, 32nd degree, 1987; M.W.S., 1999 to 2001; Philae Temple; A.A.O.N.M.S.; served as Bandmaster for five years; was a member of the Universal Craftsman Council of Engineers, Neptune Council No. 71, 1993, W.C. 2001; Royal Union Chapter No. 1, R.A.M., 1996, PHP, 2001; was appointed GM 1st Vale 2002, and was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland Provincial Grand Lodge for the Provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, 2003. Clarence was also recognized as a scholar of Prince Hall Freemasonry and was made an honorary member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ontario and Jurisdiction. He was a 30 year Royal Canadian Legion member and belonged to The Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch No. 160. A public memorial service will be held in the Freemasons Hall, 1533 Barrington St., Halifax, on Saturday afternoon, February 26, at 2 p.m., R.W. Bro. Rev. Ivan Greigan, 33nd degree, P.G.C. officiating. A church service will be held in Pope John XXIII Church, Colby Village, on Monday, February 28, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
