HALEY, Rev. Joseph Francis Following a lengthy illness, Fr. Joe died in San Antonio Texas on February 22, 2005 in his 73rd year. Beloved son of James and Ella (Mulvihill) Haley predeceased. Loving brother of Raymond predeceased (wife Marcella) of Belleville, Martin (wife Agnes) predeceased of Aylmer, James predeceased (wife Alvina) of Sudbury, Leona (husband Gordon) of Sudbury, and Rev. Sister Margaret Haley of Dallas, Texas. In addition to his two sisters and two sisters-in-law, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Father studied at St. Pauls University and was ordained a priest on June 12, 1960 at St. John the Evangelist in Thurso, Quebec, his home parish where he said his first mass the following day. In the Ottawa Archdiocese, he served as a priest at St. Judes in Hawkesbury and Our Lady of Fatima. After obtaining a Masters degree (in French) at Laval University, he taught at St. Pius X Secondary School. He served his Lord in the North West Territories, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia before moving to the U.S. where he served in many dioceses. He was a very dedicated hospital chaplain and served with the Catholic Chaplain Corps at M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas where he worked until his retirement in March 2000. Father was an Associate Priest of Madonna House in Combermere, Ont. where he made an annual retreat. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Wallis, Texas Council of the Knights. According to his wishes, a mass for Christian burial will be celebrated at Guardian Angels parish in Wallis, Texas, on Saturday, February 26, 2005 and he will be buried in the parish cemetery.
