FINNIE, GERALD EDWARD (JERRY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Edward Finnie (Jerry) of Scotch Lake Road, after a spirited and courageous battle with cancer. Jerry is a retired heavy equipment operator with the City of Fredericton. He was born on March 23, 1940 in Fredericton. Since his retirement in 2000, Jerry has enjoyed working in his workshop, doing his yardwork and driving "Daddy's boy-Sammy" around in his 1994 Ford Ranger. Jerry will be truly missed by his numerous friends he has met over the years. Childhood friends Gerald Wilkins, Bernie Forrest and Maurice Wright. He will also be missed by his dear friends Eric and Sheila, Nancy and Cynthia. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Elizabeth Finnie (Ames); his children and their spouses, Tim and Monique, Cindy and Chico, Tina and Tom; his grandchildren, Tracey, Austin, Jen, Dillon, Doug, Tanya, Tom, Chad, Michael and Ryan; brothers, Bob (Bonnie), Stan (Shirley), Don (Lola) and Jack (Shirley), sisters, Marg Jackson and Carol Wall; sister-inlaw Maxine Finnie; also many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Linton Robert Finnie and Olive Rebecca (McArthur) Finnie; brothers Irvine and Charlie and sister Mary Grey; also brother-in-law Stewart Jackson and sister-in-law Myrtle Finnie. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton where visitation was held Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Laurie Munn officiating. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
