David Ashley COLTER

COLTER, DAVID ASHLEY David Ashley Colter passed away peacefully at his home in Lower St. Mary's, NB on Monday February 28, 2005, after a very long and brave battle with diabetes, at the age of 59. Born in Fredericton, he was the eldest son of Burton of Noonan and the late Pat Colter. David was a man with an extraordinary love of life. He will be remembered fondly as a charming scamp who relished every moment with such laughter and joy that he was a pleasure to be around. He left us all with innumerable "David" stories which we will now cherish as sweet memories, but his ultimate legacy will forever be the courage, dignity and strength of character with which he faced debilitating illness. There are few who could match the good humor and fortitude he displayed through such long and difficult times. He was the husband of Elaine (nee Ferguson); father of Ashley (Peggy), Robert (Paula), Andrew (Amberly) and Christopher (Lisa) all of Fredericton; a special nephew Dan Ferguson; a sister Claudia (Derek) Fullarton of Oakville, Ontario; two brothers George (Helen) of Fredericton and Lee (Wendy) of Noonan; brother-in-law Wayne Ferguson; sister-in-law Georgina (Peter) Bourque; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Wilmot United Church on Wednesday March 2, 2005 at 6:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are preferable. The family wishes to express appreciation to the many doctors associated with the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital who cared for him over the years and the Extra Mural Nurses whose care allowed him to spend his last days at home with his family. Also, the family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Fred Solven for all of his care and friendship.
