HENDERSON, SANFORD H. - The death of Sanford H. Henderson of Long Reach, occurred peacefully after a period of failing health, February 27, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Long Reach, son of the late John and Clara (Preeper) Henderson. Sanford lived all his life on his Family's farm at Gray's Mills, on the Kingston Peninsula. He attended and graduated from MacDonald Consolidated School at Kingston and attended Mt. Allison University in Sackville, where he excelled as a Track and Field athlete. In addition to farming, Sanford loved working as a commercial fisherman on the Long Reach of the St. John River. He also had a deep passion for gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping and simply traveling through the woods. Sanford had a zeal for life and a keen sense of humour, perhaps best illustrated by the epitaph on his tombstone, which for the past decades has read "I Expected This ..". He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton with visitation from 7-9pm Monday and 2-4pm and 7-9pm Tuesday. The funeral will be held Wednesday, 11:00am at Long Reach United Church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
