Ronald H. SMITH

SMITH, RONALD H. - The death of Ronald H. Smith of Lakeside, occurred February 26, 2005 at Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Saint John, son of the late Hugh and Alice (Wood) Smith. Ronald was the Aquatic Director at YMCA, Saint John for ten years and was the Athletic Director at Mt. Allison University for seventeen years before his retirement. He was in the horse racing business for thirty years. He is survived by one sister Louise Smith of Lakeside; one brother Charles Smith (Ella) of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews, including special niece Alice Starkey (Donald) of Hammond River, and close friend Rod Morrison of Lakeside. He was predeceased by one sister Irene Galey and one brother Lloyd Smith. A private graveside service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery, Quispamsis, in the spring. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Home, Hampton (832-5541).
