Veronica Estelle McManus TRURO, NS - Veronica Estelle McManus, 82, of Cedarstone Enhanced Care and formerly of Victoria Street, Truro, passed away peacefully with family and loved ones at her side, Sunday, February 27, 2005 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ada (Fogarty) Elliott. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy, where she received a business diploma. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a member of the CWL all her married life. She lived in Moncton, Halifax and was a resident of Truro for 46 years. Veronica was an avid reader and a member of the book discussion group at the Colchester East Hants Regional Library. She was very abreast of current events and a great movie buff. She was very interested in the Royal Family. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Joseph "Cyril" McManus, who is also a resident of Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro; daughters, Kathleen Newell (Allan), Truro, Elinor McManus, Vancouver; son, Patrick, Halifax; sisters, Eleanor Martin, Sarnia, Ontario, Ruth Hughes, Thunder Bay, Ontario; grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda McNutt, Truro. She was predeceased by sons, John and Brian; brother, Frank Elliott, a Second World War veteran. Veronica had requested that her body be donated to the Medical Society of Nova Scotia for medical science research. Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm with prayers on Thursday at 8:00pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home; memorial Mass on Friday at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. Interment at a later date in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Society or the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
