Lawrence B. MITTON

Lawrence B. Mitton CHELSEA, VERMONT, USA - Lawrence B. Mitton, 82, died Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2005 at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT. He was born March 8, 1922 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Bliss and Jessie M. (Wilson) Mitton. Lawrence attended school in Moncton, New Brunswick and then went to work for Moncton Electricity and Gas Company where he worked for over seventeen years. He served during WWII as a gunner with the Royal Canadian Artillery for nearly four years. On July 22, 1944, he married Volis Blanche Weatherbee. They moved to the United States November 23, 1963 and lived in Wellington, MA then Reading, MA and then Hudson, NH. They lived in Nashua, NH for seventeen years where Lawrence drove a propane truck for Gas Services Inc. He retired in 1984, wintered in Arcadia, FL and traveled New England, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia during the summer months. They moved to Chelsea in 1997. Mrs. Mitton died May 7, 2001. Mr. Mitton was later remarried to Shirley Flye. They lived at the Chelsea Court in Chelsea, VT. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and playing the guitar. He was a member of the West Hill Independent Gospel Church in Chelsea, VT. He is survived by his wife of Chelsea, VT; four sons, Wayne L. Mitton of Windsor, Ontario, Ronald E. Mitton of Sarnia, Ontario, Vernon P. Mitton, West Dearing, NH, David R. Mitton of Hawkestone, Ontario; a daughter, Brenda D. Walker of Barnard, VT; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie P. Jackson of Nashua, NH and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be held Saturday afternoon March 5, 2005 at 2PM at the West Hill Independent Gospel Church with Pastor Thomas Walker, Lawrence's son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea, Vermont.
